POSITION TITLE:


Analyst Intern, Portfolio Management Group


The Portfolio Management Group (PMG) is seeking bright, thoughtful rising college seniors from all majors, experiences and backgrounds to join our team for the summer of 2018. The internship will begin in early June and run for 8 weeks. This opportunity is available in both our San Francisco and New York offices.

RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEW:


The position offers an opportunity to develop experience working with investments, gain an understanding of a wide range of investment performance reports, and to work with Analysts/Associates to apply best team practices in an intellectual, collegial environment. You will work across the Portfolio Management Group and gain experience in the following areas:


1. General knowledge of investment portfolios and wealth management
2. Exposure to client portfolios composed of a variety of asset classes including cash, fixed income, equities, alternative assets, private investments, etc.
3. Assisting the Portfolio Management Group in a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, filing, organizing, data entry, report production
4. Possible opportunity to attend investment strategy, research, and other meetings
5. Complete group and individual case studies


QUALIFICATIONS:


Hall Capital Partners is looking for rising college seniors (students who will be between their junior and senior year of college in the summer of 2018). We are looking for someone with:

Senior Associate, Portfolio Management Group


The Portfolio Management Group is seeking bright, thoughtful investment professionals to join its team in the Senior Associate role.  The Senior Associate position is available in both our San Francisco and New York offices.  The Senior Associate is an integral part of the portfolio management team led by a Managing Director to work closely with clients to develop and implement their customized investment approach. This position offers an opportunity to develop investment expertise, interact with clients and apply best investment practices in an intellectual, collegial environment. The expectation is that those who excel in this role may have the opportunity to continue to take on greater responsibilities and over time will assume lead portfolio management responsibilities with clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEW:


• Serve as integral member of the portfolio management team responsible for all aspects of client relationship management and investment advisement.
• Develop a clear understanding of client’s existing assets, liabilities, planning structures, and cash flow requirements.
• In conjunction with the senior portfolio manager, develop ongoing investment strategy including objectives and guidelines, and asset allocation for each client entity.
• Manage people, processes, and projects in conjunction with other members of the portfolio management team.
• Continuously evaluate managers and investments for appropriate inclusion in a portfolio; recommend additions or changes when appropriate.
• Evaluate and provide recommendations regarding potential investments identified by Hall Capital Partner’s Research Group and occasionally sources other than Hall Capital Partners including client-directed opportunities.
• Monitor asset allocation with appropriate asset class and manager rebalancing recommendations, while addressing tactical investment opportunities.
• Review and ensure accuracy and completeness of all client reporting material with formal reports delivered on a quarterly basis.
• Respond to a wide variety of client requests encompassing investment-related issues, wealth transfer planning, tax, estate and legal structural issues, and philanthropic planning.
• Develop presentations to facilitate investment dialogue with clients.
• Serve as a client advocate and key point of client contact, proactively developing solutions to an evolving set of needs.
• Serve as a resource for senior members of portfolio management team for ad-hoc projects.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


• An MBA, CFA or equivalent background
• 3-5 years’ experience in finance (i.e. investment management, investment banking, capital markets), and/or relevant operating or legal experience
• 2-3 years of experience managing people, processes, and projects
• Strong degree of familiarity with capital markets, investing and/or asset allocation principles
• Strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills, as well as the ability to think critically and communicate in a concise, organized manner
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with varied audiences

Analyst, Portfolio Management Group

 

The Portfolio Management Group (PMG) is seeking bright, thoughtful and motivated professionals from all majors, experiences and backgrounds to join their team.  

 

We are accepting applications for San Francisco-based roles with a start date of early January 2018.  We are also accepting applications for roles starting in early July 2018 for both our San Francisco and New York offices.

 

This is a 2-year entry level analyst position with the potential for top performing analysts to expand and extend their engagement for an additional 3-years in the associate position. 

 

The analyst position offers an opportunity to develop experience in portfolio reporting, portfolio management, and client services while also gaining exposure to a wide range of asset classes in an intellectual, collegial environment. The individual will work as an integral member of various client relationships ranging from high net worth families to foundations and endowments. Analysts will be deeply involved in the execution and integration of portfolio management decisions in support of the Portfolio Manager and team.

RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEW:

 

·          Aggregate and track capital account balances and transactions across a wide range of asset classes (e.g.

           cash, fixed income, equities, hedge funds, private equity, and real assets) for multiple client portfolios

·          Deliver high quality quarterly client reports and presentations in Excel and PowerPoint that incorporate fund

           and portfolio performance, asset reconciliations, and pro forma balance sheets

·          Actively participate in day-to-day portfolio administration and time-sensitive investment coordination that

           can include, but is not limited to wire transfer requests, stock sales, investment funding and redemptions

·          Actively participate in and coordinate sensitive and complex estate planning transactions such as transfers

           of interest, partnership distributions, and charitable gifting

·          Review and prepare with extreme accuracy account opening paperwork, subscription documentation,

           compliance reporting questionnaires, and annual/quarterly certifications

·          Liaise with clients, family office staff, tax advisors and investment managers, providing exceptional client

           service and escalating issues as appropriate

·          Manage risk across client relationships by closely adhering to firm and regulatory policy, procedures, and

           processes

·          Participate in special projects, as needed, which can include recruiting, research liaison, systems processes

           and automation

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

·          A keen interest and curiosity in developing a working knowledge of financial markets, portfolio

           management, investments, and client services

·          A Bachelor’s degree with a GPA greater than 3.0

·          0-2 years of work experience

·          Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
